TCSA Fall Conference & Trade Show Draft Agenda Now Available

County highway officials will have an array of training opportunities during the Annual Fall Conference & Trade Show October 18-20, 2023, at the Chattanooga Marriott & Convention Center, which includes a tour of local asphalt, road paint, and equipment vendors Astec, RoadTec and Heatec.

The highway program begins Wednesday morning with training by Collier Engineering involving AI technologies on the road management side of things, and continues with a discussion of state purchasing contracts from the state Department of General Services.

The off-site field trip to the Astec family of industries is scheduled for just after lunch that day.

IMPORTANT: In order to plan transportation needs for the Astec field trip, you must sign up by 12 noon CT October 10 by emailing [email protected]. Buses will be provided to everyone going because parking is limited at the facilities.

On Thursday morning the UT County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS) will be discussing human resources and personnel policy issues and how they apply to county highway departments.

That afternoon, the TCHOA membership will hear from its national partner, the National Association of County Engineers, about some of the things they are seeing at the Congressional level about transportation improvements. Federal and state issues about CDL drug clearinghouse requirements and State Aid Road and Bridge programs will finish off the afternoon.

As always, general sessions throughout the week will be headlined by guest speakers, and an awards banquet will be hosted Thursday evening, when attendees will honor successful innovative programs counties have implemented over the past year.
