About Us

TCSA offers a broad range of management and intergovernmental relations through its technical, financial, and advocacy services.  The purpose is to improve the operation of Tennessee county government and thereby the services counties provide to their residents.  Headquartered in Nashville, TCSA works closely with the University of Tennessee’s County Technical Assistance Service in providing technical assistance to all counties.

TCSA has established a number of programs designed to assist counties with financial functions.  The idea is for counties to reap the greatest return from limited county budget dollars.  Available cost saving services and programs include low cost property and casualty and workers compensation insurance through our local government insurance pool; and low cost, low interest loans through our county services loan program to county governments.  A purchasing alliance through the U.S. Communities Purchasing Alliance has been established to offer discounted office supplies and equipment.  Many other programs have been established or endorsed that provide financial savings for county governments.

TCSA is best known for its advocacy for county governments.  Our lobbying efforts for you in the Tennessee General Assembly and with the administration are vital in protecting county governments from having to bear unnecessary cost or tribulations in dealing with the changing times.

TCSA is comprised of three affiliates, the Association of County Mayors, the Tennessee County Commissioners Association, and the Tennessee County Highway Officials Association.  These organizations along with our contract lobbyists make for a strong team in representing your interest.

TSCA publishes the Tennessee County News, a newspaper going to all county, state, and federal officials from Tennessee.  The newspaper helps us communicate our technical, financial, and advocacy services as well as keep our members abreast of the issues of the day.  During the Tennessee General Assembly legislative session, a regular publication, Capitol Update, is also published keeping counties aware of legislative issues on a very timely basis.

We have various conferences throughout the year that we encourage you to participate in.  We ask for your help in our efforts.
